Cornell Cooperative Extension Plant Sale

The Otsego Master Gardener Volunteers (OMGV) of Cornell Cooperative Extension will hold their annual plant sale on Saturday, May 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Cornell Cooperative Extension Education and Outreach Center, 123 Lake Street in Cooperstown. The sale is known for its wide-diversity of plants, with a focus on what will succeed in local gardens. This includes annuals, perennials, including native species, herbs and vegetables, including several varieties of tomatoes and peppers, all at reasonable prices.
Cornell-trained Master Gardeners Volunteers will be on hand to answer all your questions, including planting, care and harvesting, as well as assisting in plant selections. One of those people, Carol Phelps, said: “A group of us raise the plants from seeds in their homes. We have grown many of those in our own gardens and we can share why we love them. Whether its disease-resistance in our humid summers, deer resistance, or vegetables ready to harvest sooner, we like to grow the varieties we sell. Starting native perennials from seeds means they will be small at sale time, but we will give good advice on how to make them flourish.”
All plants sold have been planted in sterile potting media. A limited selection of house plants from Master Gardeners’ own collections will be offered.
Please note that there will be no pre-sale options and the plant sale will open promptly at 9 a.m. (no early birds). Customers are encouraged to bring boxes to carry home purchases.
